Istanbul, Turkey

While I was studying at the University of Michigan, I was frantically trying to decide which multi-week trip I would travel.  In the end, I settled on a 3 week backpack trip through Turkey before taking a ferry to Italy for another 2 weeks.  I started in Istanbul.  It was very unique city, as part of it feel Islamic while other parts feel quite European.  Bustling with activity, no wonder Istanbul proclaims itself at the crossroads between East and West.
