Luxor, Egypt

Perhaps the hottest place on earth where I have visited, Luxor is a city of contrasts. On the one hand, Luxor has some of the most amazing ancient temples in the world. While I have seen great obilisks in Rome, Paris, London, and Constantinople, it is an amazing to visit the Karnak Temple – the original site where those obilisks were taken. The felucca boat ride on the Nile was a real treat. Riding a motorbike to the Valley of the Kings was a heap of fun. But on the other hand, Luxor is marred by poverty and desparation by some of the locals. It was a difficult place to visit, having to deal with the intense hassle. Cameron, from Maryland, was a great travel buddy, whom I met on the overnight train from Cairo.
