Finally making it to Egypt, Cairo had a profound contrast between awesome historical sites, and poverty. I must say, the Giza Pyramids equaled my astonishment and awe as that when I first saw the Great Wall of China – simply breathtaking. The Death Mask of Tutankhanman was also the most beautiful piece of handcraft art I have seen with my eyes. Navigating through streets only marked in Arabic was really challenging. However, I loved riding the Metro, packed with Egyptians, and I the lone Westerner. Chris, Patrick, and Logan were helpful on this first leg of my 2008 summer travel.
