I’ve come to really appreciate Maui. The first time I was here, it was just for a few days with my friend Chris. Now on my own, I liked the hostel I was staying in, where I had met a fellow Canadian who taught me how to surf for the first time on the north shore near Paia. The drive to Hana was lovely and had the chance to go swimming in the lagoons again. I’ve found the island to have a good balance between finding things to do during the night and evening in towns, and yet escape into adventure when you see fit.
