Musée du Louvre, Paris, France

The last two times I visited Paris, the Louvre was closed and I was unable to enjoy its exhibits. This time around, I made sure I scheduled a day to visit this world famous museum and gallery. I was particularly struck by the treasures taken and on display from ancient Persia. Knowing that I was going to be in Iran a week later, I wanted to appreciate the sculptures and artifacts taken from Darius’ Palace (Apadana), Persepolis, and Choqa Zambil. Other notable exhibits included The Winged Victory of Samothrace, the Mona Lisa, The Wedding Feast at Cana, Venus de Milo, and the original Code of Hammurabi (there is a copy in the National Museum of Iran in Tehran).
