Vila Madalena was the district I stayed in when I was in São Paulo. It’s a bohemian neighborhood with a strong artisan, cafe, and local music scene. One area that was thrilling to stumble upon was ‘Beco do Batman‘ or the ‘Bat Cave‘. It was here were Vila Madalena gained its reputation as an street artist friendly place. With laws changing that allowed and encouraged artists to express themselves on walls and public spaces, individuals congregated to this alleyway to paint their thoughts and imagination.
