Dublin, Ireland

After the heat and humidity of Lebanon, it was quite the change to come back to Dublin where it was slightly cooler, greener, and calmer.  No longer are there arbitrary honking cars, nor the drastic humid heat, and the warmth of the Mediterranean Sea.  It was cold and damp in Dublin, but very familiar, and surrounded with the U2 atmosphere.  Almost immediately, you can tell that the U2 circus was in town, and I absolutely loved it.  I found my hostel – Barnacles Temple Bar – to be a great place to base myself out of for the next 9 days.  It was also great to meet up with my friend Carrie from NY, and a whole host of fellow U2 friends in this city.   The world has converged here for the treble of shows at Croke Park, with 250,000 fans enjoying U2 over the course of the weekend. Having been here for 3 shows in 2005, it was nice to return to the holy land of U2!

I’m really enjoying Bono’s autobiography #SurrenderMemoir. Incredible perspectives of his upbringing and influences in Dublin.

Last image on this post has a snippet of an IEM recording I took from the Auckland rehearsal on November 3, 2019. New Zealand in a way is In God’s Country.

This song (and album) is the soundtrack to my 2008 summer backpack travels in Egypt, Jordan, and Israel (Jerusalem, of course).

Got a GA ticket for this show - nice to be back after 3 years to be on the floor and on the rail. Was able to get my camera in for these photos.
