Melbourne is a hip city. It was a nice walk from the central bus station to Home At The Mansion, which was the nicest hostel I stayed in Australia. It was a beautiful old Salvation Army building, converted over time into a hostel. It was clean, with a very helpful staff. I met an English semi-professional cricketer named Jay, and it was cool to hang out with him. I met some other people in the hostel and joined them on a trip on the Great Ocean Road. I wished I had more time in Melbourne to check out its famous restaurant scene, but I had to get back to Sydney for Christmas. The weather was a bit cooler there (compared to Perth), and I believe its because it’s further south and thus closer to Antarctica. The waters were certainly much colder!
