Everyone we’ve talked, who has visited Japan, highly recommended Kyoto. Taking a relatively quick Rapid Express Train from Osaka to Kyoto, we found the train station to be very impressive. We walked over to our hostel Shiori-an, which was very clean and tidy, and settled into our two-twin bed room. Unfortunately, I caught a cold in Osaka, so I wasn’t able to fully appreciate Kyoto and its food, because of my runny nose!
This didn’t take away from the amazing gardens, temples, and bamboo groves that we saw. For the couple of days we were in this ancient Japanese capital, we visited:
Tainai-meguri, Kiyomizu-dera, Kasagi-ya, Ishibei-koji, Kodai-ji, the streets of Gion, Arashiyama bamboo groves, Tenryu-ju, Okochi sanso, Adashino Nembutsu-ji, Ginkaki-ju, Honen-In, the Philosopher’s path, Nanyen-ji, Kawarmachi Catholic Church, and the Pontochodori area.
