Esfahan, Iran

I had taken a comfortable 6-hour train ride from Yazd to Esfahan. I had been looking forward to visiting the much fabled city of Esfahan, and I wasn’t let down at all! There is good reason for Esfahan to be an UNESCO World Heritage City – it is simply stunning. My hosts lodged me in the very comfortable 4-star Kowsar Hotel and I enjoyed the company of Mr. Firoodi who showed me around the magnificent Imam Square and Imam Mosque. The fine details of the blue and yellow tiling were exquisite. I also loved walking through the Armenian sector of new Jolfa, as well as walking along the Zayandeh River and across its fairy-tale bridges which are over 400 years old.
